Robert Gillespie has been making good-quality book for years, thanks to a combination of clever design and high-end materials. This series emphasizes reading music, not relying on tabs. It is ideal for teaching today's beginning band and string students, both in the classroom and at home. It provides both teachers and students with a wealth of materials to develop total musicianship, even at the beginning stages.

The CD that comes with the book does NOT have all of the tracks to play along with. This makes it too easy to fall into playing from memory rather than by actually learning the notes on the fingerboard. It is great for violin study and practice. This is a very good book for grasping the basics, nothing beats face to face with an instructor but this book helps you get used to bow holding and finger positions. It comes with all kinds of tips.

Why We Like This:
  • Easy to read and great teaching material
  • Helps a lot and you really start to learn how to train your ear
  • Great book for beginners in violin
  • Great music materials, lots of helpful hints

Best part: samuel applebaum 1 string basic book costs comparatively low and it is available to ship in 24 hours. It's a great violin method. It starts with illustrations, then whole notes on open strings, and then slowly graduates up to easy duets by classical violin method writers so you can begin to play along with your student. They start right off in the beginning to train their ear to hear what they are playing and this makes for a better learning. It also has some fun duets for the teacher to play with the student.

This is a practice book, so you will not find entertaining pieces you can perform for others. It's a lot of fun, plus it fits in with Suzuki ideas. It will help students be more familiar with information in their learning. The pages are fairly un-cluttered. It's a good resource for string classes.

Why We Like This:
  • Especially for little violinists who eventually play in school orchestra
  • Introduction, and repetition through sight, and application promotes learning
  • Very useful for mixed string instruments
