It has the top hatch / door as well that makes "plopping " a cat or dog into very, very easy. It features handle and latches to open to the left or right for convenience. The ability to open the top makes it much easier to crate animals that aren't cooperative.

It works well with secure doors both front and top. There are plenty of air vents all around the sides and top so your pet gets good air flow while traveling, but also some privacy. These are a little flimsy on the top and not hinged at all, so the top can come completely off. It comes with metal screws to ensure it doesn't accidentally open up, but the latches are sufficient too.
