These bindings will work with any standard 75mm, 3-pin boot. It includes two toe-piece bindings, two flat heel plates, and eight mounting screws. The part of the latch that you press to click in or out is plastic. The latch has two settings which works quite well.
The heel strike plate is plastic. Your boot will have an extended lip and 3 holes in that lip, which will clip into the pins on the bindings. It can be credited to dedication, innovation, technology and a close co-operation with skiers at all levels. The bindings are much easier to lock onto the ski boots than the old bindings.

The Italian-made full-grain leather boots previously made by Asolo and Merrell several years ago are great for use with this binding. The Voile HD Mountaineer three-pin Binding is a strong, 75mm width, traditional cross country ski binding for ski touring. It is constructed of 5052 and also it is a binding that is more suited to covering distance than making turns. The two bindings look similar, but you can tell the lighter-weight 201s apart by the 3/8" wide cutout that they have behind the rear two screw holes.
The Voile heel pad that comes with the binding is a good size and supports the boot heel well. These thick bent wire loops flip up to support your boot if you are climbing up a steep grade. A small tile grout brush or even a firm toothbrush will work to brush off snow and ice.
Why We Like This:
A solid, light touring, telemark and backcountry touring binding with stunning durability

Compared with other binding in this category, the rottefella 3 pin nordic binding has a convenient design. The rottefella super telemark is a strong, 3-pin, 75 mm cross country ski binding. It is made by alico, scarpa, crispi and alpina. It allows the boot to be held firmly in place, locks in three positions to accommodate boot soles from. It has some serrations that are supposed to grip the boot heel, but it is a bit smaller, so it doesn't support the boot heel quite as well as the Voile pad. A small tile grout brush or even a firm toothbrush will work to brush off snow and ice.
If you are going to be skiing in hilly terrain, you'll want to use a "ski leash" with any cross country touring binding, just in case the bail pops open in a fall. It is a good binding for backcountry cross country ski touring and some downhill telemark skiing on moderate slopes. You can tell these older versions from the improved design because they have a rectangular cutout in the back of the rear screws, whereas the stronger improved design does not.
Why We Like This:
Super durable 3-pin 75mm binding with flat bail to reduce wear on boots
Mounts to standard alongated 3-hole drilling pattern
