The Rain Bird ESP-RZX is the irrigation controller, which is compatible with any brand of irrigation valve. These are ac solenoids, meant for your standard wall-mounted controller. The solenoid is a coil of electrical wire that, when charged with an electrical current from the controller, creates a magnetic force and pulls up a small metal that opens the valve. The solenoid installs without tools until hand-tight and is very easy to turn on and off manually with 1/4 turn if needed.

The orbit sprinkler system is satisfactory and appropriate and fits well with your regular usage. It is very important not to over tighten plastic fittings. It is easy to install, easy to assemble, and easy to connect. The white wire is common and will have to be connected to each valve. It also comes with a single bushing to adapt one of the fittings to 1" schd 40 PVC but all 4 will fit 3/4" pipe. All connections have quick connect fittings so the valves can be removed from a fully installed system.
