It is a great piano book for 9 yr old learning christmas music. This book has the "Stocking Stuffers" which are simple sight reading exercises for each piece, which are nice if the student is working on sight reading. On a positive note, it does offer exercises to prepare the student for the holiday pieces they are about to play so that the student does not have to just 'jump' into the piece. It makes you want to learn more if you feel successful.

This is definitely a level up from the primer level. The progression of the lessons are smart and easy to follow. The rest of the music is pretty much all new, not a repeat of the primer level. It is nice because it is not too easy but there is an opportunity to learn and improve with different skill levels.
