We are personally inclined towards husqvarna new muffler, it is not so pricy, but it overachieves its purpose and outstanding in important aspects. It is an exact replacement for the ariens 46" mower with 20hp b&s engine. It fits perfectly, inbolt old and install new muffler in reverse order, and definitely much more quiet than the old blown out muffler. It is compatible with husqvarna lawn mowers, including models ct153, ct154, cth194, cth2038, lth. The OEM has screws that mount the muffler to the frame.

The mounting screws cut threads in the muffler, so require moderate torque to start them, and snug them up. It will last longer than the mower.
