Forney makes beautiful and great rod with classic and smartly choosen materials. These 1/16 welding rods are amazing for use with a very low current. It works good on lightweight metal and a good rod. The welds aren't real pretty, but they are solid with good penetration. It takes 3/4 of a rod to burn away the rust and build up a solid strong dime sized pad for a hanger.

The metal is about 16 gauge, so it is thin. It is good for razor thin metals if you can get the technique down. These 1/16 welding rods work great even at 30 amps.

Why We Like This:
  • Welds up thinner metal perfectly at 60 amps
  • Nice, flows like butter, every rod so far strikes easy
  • One of the new comers and featured product

As a newbie to any kind of welding, these rods are easy to use and a fun way to experiment and learn. The parts need to be immaculate, and the PART needs to be hot enough to melt the rod. If you want to fill a hole, it might work for you if everything is perfectly clean. These rods work with propane gas with no issues.

These alloys contain mainly aluminum and zinc (probably other metals), but as the rods work with any non-ferrous metal, you're good to go. The joints will stick well to the base metal and also from aluminum to aluminum. These rods are non-flux coated so your surface needs to be free of impurities. It can not be used on stainless steel.

Why We Like This:
  • Make pooling and filling voids much easier
  • Very limited range of heat in order to work correctly
  • White metal mimics cast iron in structure dissipating the heat quickly
  • Degrees cooler, depending upon the turbo rpm and flow
