The john a gwynne a field guide to the bird of brazil's material feels more premium than its price would suggest. Different from other "field" guides written by Ridgely, this is truly a "field" book which can be carried on your vest's pocket or any book bag. The maps make it easy to zero in on what you've just seen in the field. The faces-page layout of this long-awaited volume with its beautiful art, maps and clear and accurate species accounts is terrific. The drawings also include birds on the fly, as well as male, female and immature.
This range map is a bit different, following the aim of the book which is to focus on the habitat and not political boundaries. There's also a comprehensive chapter about the different landscapes that form the Pantanal and Cerrado. A nice touch with this book is putting in an indication of the bird being endemic.

The ber van perlo a field guide to the bird of brazil's superior materials makes sure that it ages well with use. If you're planning to bird in more than the two portions of Brazil that the excellent Wildlife Conservation Society guides don't cover, this is your guide. It includes lots of drawings and maps on climate, habitat, and topography. The illustrations are very well done and the indications on the map of Brazil show clearly where the bird can be found.
The illustrations are clear and point out the distinguishing characteristics of the birds. There are whole pages of whitespace separating sections. The left side narrative and maps could have been larger fonts in about half of the plates, especially if the right side illustrations are separated to be less crowded and another plate added.
This book is a practical field guide to take with you while birding in Brazil. It's easiest to compare this to the Peterson's Field Guide for birds of North America.
Why We Like This:
Is a good book for identification, with details and ilustrations of birds in flight
