These brakes will only fit Dexter or Lippert axles. Each of the three axles use different size bearings, so you can not change the drums, and the brake mount flanges are welded onto the axle tubes in different locations in order to make room for the wider brake shoes.

These are made by dexter but they fit al-ko axles with electric brakes. It is a magnet located inside of the backing plate which has 2 conductor wires which tape directly into the trailer wiring. The spacing from backplate to shoes and pivot locations is spot on, and the shoes simply ride a little shallower from the outside face of the drum.

The brakes have plenty of stopping power and they feel very solid. The shoes will have a special brake pad material on them that resist the heat caused by the friction. It is smooth and jerk less, this is no shock or jerk that can be associated to the e-brakes and unlink normal hydraulic brakes.
