It will thread off the pipe extending from the wall. The back escutcheon is a separate piece. The escutcheon is included with the tub spout. It does have to extend into the spout. It easily slides on and locks into place with a screw. This comes with the inner plastic piece that slips over the stub of 1/2" copper pipe that sticks out from the wall. It's made of steel and the diverter seals quite well. This spout requires a copper pipe connection. It is the entire faucet, including the inner workings of the spout.
