ART Dual Passive Direct Box

ART Dual Passive Direct Box

Art makes beautiful and great box with classic and smartly choosen materials. This DI box is built like a tank, very solid. It is solidly constructed and works well. It is a rock solid, roadworthy di for connection of the outputs of electronic musical instruments (or other audio sources) to the balanced inputs of mixer consoles and other balanced inputs. The box is solid metal, 1/3 rack mount size ( 5.5 inches wide and deep, 1.6 inches tall), and has a nice diagram on top showing the inputs and signal flow.

This dual DI works great and does not need a battery or phantom power. The attenuation set up is accurate and simple to use. It is very good at eliminating static and electronic noise.

Why We Like This:
  • Problems, no increased noise, no noticeable frequency degradation
  • Fixed noise issues of mac connection to sound board
  • Good brand reputation

The art speaker level's material feels more premium than its price would suggest. A mixer brings various sound inputs together and outputs one sound mix. The ground lift switches let you totally separate the input and output signal grounds, when appropriate, to isolate two systems, thereby reducing hum and ground-loop noise. There are pads to accommodate higher level inputs like an electronic piano, which are usually much louder than a passive guitar pickup. The filters are very effective in reducing any digital computer noise artifacts when using the dualzdirect as an interface between a computer-based audio workstation and your monitors.

While a number of DI boxes are available this one is simple, has a filter for use on digital devices others don't, and doesn't require phantom. It does NOT have phantom power, since it is not used for a microphone it has no need for it. It is great for streaming of a radio station. The input attenuator switches allow for a wide range of signal levels and the input thru jacks allows for tapping off of your signal chain.

Why We Like This:
  • Being passive there are no mismatches due to improper adjustments, and installation is easy
  • Clean and quiet and well worth the money
  • 20 db attenuators on each channel which can also be stacked for

If you are looking for a popular box for your regular usage, you cannot go wrong with this pick. This little direct box gets a lot of use. It DOES have a ground lift on each channel. It can be used as an interface between a computer and high-end audio equipment. It is ideal for connecting an ipodĀ®, laptop, or similar device to a mixing console. The pad helps to drop speaker output (up to 100w) into Mic level Output as well.

This direct box is incredibly small considering that it houses two channels. It DOES have a lot of use. It is easy to setup and use.

Why We Like This:
  • Cut filter to eliminate possible interference from digital devices
  • Strange sounds, no buzz, just a clean signal
  • Fits into a side pouch on a backpack

ART DI Box

Next on the list, we've got yet another product that manages to win our hearts. It's the art di box and it's widely considered as product that has the most suitable features. Innovative graphic equalizers that actually show you exactly where feedback may occur, and a full complement of cool little useful tools designed for stage and studio, art offers affordable audio solutions that deliver unmatched quality, tone, versatility and reliability. It converts various high impedance balanced and unbalanced inputs (microphone xlr connections, 1/4" line level phono plugs like a guitar, etc) to a standard balanced low impedance signal output. The battery goes in best if you put it in the holder terminals first.

If the amplifier you are feeding has phantom power, and is off when the unit is inactive. It is available, then the dualxdirect will automatically draw its power from the external source. The dualThru jacks also are helpful. This is exactly like two separate single channel DI boxes, so if you've got the right splitters, you could use it for a stereo input/output.

Why We Like This:
  • Well built and runs great off of the phantom power from the mixer
  • Very quite and lean sounding direct box
  • Works on 9v battery or phantom power
