It's a standard piece for brewing you could make your own if you don't want someone to see. This stopper will fit an opening with a 1-1/4in inside diameter. The center "float" rests in water then rises as CO2 enters it and when full of gas the CO2 bubbles out of ports on the lower section of the float which then drops to rise again as the CO2 builds again. It works great with the correct stopper.
It is perfectly functional, as long as you are able to account for the inevitable foam from aerating and fermenting your swill by leaving enough headroom. These are easy to clean as all the pieces come apart. The pipe on the airlock looks like 1/4 inch, and the drilled hole is slightly smaller than the CO2 builds again.
