The metal contacts have a lot of surface area that could essentially pull away heat while also maintaining positive contact for low resistance. It fits snugly in the gap in the conducting plates. There are 2 screws under the cover for attaching wires. The fuse actually gets clamped by a scew, so it is very positive for 60 amps.

The block itself is solidly constructed allowing it to be securely mounted with recessed screw points. There is really no way to mount securely and still be able to remove the fuse without relieving the mount screw. It is not water tight or weather proof and bulky too, and is used mostly inside engine rooms on boats.
