Best Overall: Dewalt cast iron Scroll Saw

Dewalt has been making great saw for years, thanks to a combination of clever design and high-end materials. The ability to feed fret cuts, inside cuts, from either the top or bottom is a time saving feature that pays for it in no time at all. The DW788 can handle soft and hard wood with ease, up to 2", and the speed adjustment is easy to adjust while your cutting. It provides excellent material support and has the ability to bevel to both the left and right. The blower is powerful and clears away the dust.

The Power and speed controls are up on top and easy to use. The wing clamps hold the blade by hand tightening alone. The Dewalt is a smooth operating saw and easy to use. It has a very large and heavy table that keeps the vibration down while providing a stable work surface when cutting at the far end of a project.

Why We Like This:
  • Heavy duty and easy to use
  • Smooth and nearly vibration free at all speeds
  • Very quiet, minimal vibration, reliable, and more than enough power
  • The ability to swing the arm up to thread the blade into large pieces

We know from years of feedback from readers, customers and amazon sellers, what most people want in a convenient and appropriate saw. The wen cast iron scroll saw is exactly that - it's a simple saw that hits all the right notes. There are lots more choices of blades and much finer blades available in plain end as opposed to pin end. It features a thumb screw blade adapter for tool-free blade changes, a cast iron base, an air pump, a flex light, a dust port, a foot lock clamp, onboard storage, and three blades. It has a standard power cord.

The aluminum table is a bit rough and will need a coat of wax to allow wood to easily slide, and the exhaust port is positioned close to the power switch. It has an adaptor for the plain end and a guide on the top to get the length correct. It is easy to use, no louder than you would expect and stable. The vibration will walk it off the bench. It is recommended for wooden materials only.

Why We Like This:
  • Foam core is incredibly easy to cut

  • Does have a lot of vibration and moves across the work bench
