While you may find a book for any aesthetic preference, we looked for books that had simple, elegant designs - ones that would appeal to most people - rather than models that adhered to specific aesthetic choices.

Not everyone likes to purchase book for their daily usage, but the nw hovey clarinet music book would be an anomoly. This book puts you through your paces without gimmicky illustrations or long-winded explanations. It doesn't have any neat gimmicks like DVDs or CDs, but for a serious student who doesn't need that kind of stuff, this is solid and worth a close look. It is packed with practice exercises. It's also quite fast paced, so one can easily spend several days on one page.
The clarinet diagram in the front is particularly useful. It challenges a player but isn't so hard that they lose confidence or interest. It is paced well, too, for private lessons.

The h voxman clarinet music book's high-end materials makes sure that it ages well with use. This is a must have for anyone that is serious about the clarinet, especially if you are an advanced player in High School. The music self is great full of challenges but fullfilling when accomplished, with accompanyment the only problem is it is difficult to find the song number on the page or cd but it can be worked thru and very helpful for students. It is ideal for solo competitions and for technique building.
The selections are not too difficult, and would be suitable for someone who has to audition for Julliard. This is great if you want to hear the full piece while practicing.

Compared with other book in this category, the linda rutherford clarinet music book has a convenient design. This book is definitely ranked in the Top 3 of the learning methods for intermediate clarinettists. It is an incredible learning tool with beautiful arrangements of solo clarinet music. It comes with the CD, you can hear the music first and get a glimp of what it should sound like not to mention you can play along with it. The level is low intermediate to high intermediate depending on the piece.
An excellent selection of intermediate practice pieces, this volume also contains a useful analysis of each piece, with suggestions on how to approach difficult passages and fingerings. The songs are fun to play and easy on the ears to listen to. The play along music really helps you learn, and then you can choose to just play with a piano accompaniment. While the pieces are not terribly difficult, it is a useful book for any intermediate player to have in their library.
