The iron is evenly hot across the whole plate and the cord is long enough. The wax you use is the driver for the temp setting. It is easy to tell whether it's on or off. It is the choice of the best wax techs worldwide. It is easy to use waxing iron with a digital display. Setting the iron on the skis, the part that would actually touch was a 3/8" band around the edge of the iron while the center of the iron never came in contact with the base. The thicker sole plate retains the heat for a consistent melt and it is within 3-5 degrees of the rated temperature output when used on a narrower cross country ski.
The temperature control is so much better, it actually holds the temp for a long amount of time especially on big skis. It can be used on a narrower cross country ski.
Why We Like This:
Great temperature control and ease of use with digital display

Next on the list, we've got yet another iron that manages to win our hearts. It's the xcman cross country ski iron and it's widely considered as iron that has the most suitable features. With a rubber mat for place iron, this is the perfect solution to keeping your ski and snowboard waxing iron from falling over. It has a highly accurate thermostat to provide exact temperature control perfect for applying wax to skis and snowboard, or nordic ski. It features a digital readout to continually display its current operating temperature. The stick dimpled base plate with chamfered edges easily glides along the base when melting wax. It has a thicker and larger soleplate which makes the job faster, even though they all are.
This one works great, precise temperature control, and the rest pad is great when doing multiple pairs. The temperature is real time monitored. It is good for the free skis.
