Katrina Witten line of stitch come in a pretty wide variety of styles, so you can definitely find one that suits your individual preferences and needs. The Hand-stitched Landscapes & Flowers book by Katrina Witten is beautiful enough to be a coffee table book and inspiring enough to be an asset to anyone either considering taking up embroidery or someone wanting to further their skills. It's amazing practice and very fun. Using synthetic organza and some simple stitches, Witten’s techniques elevate embroidery with stunning results. Some of the designs have a lot of texture, 3D features, organza and beading which can be a practical problem with a shirt or jacket.

The artistry is captivating, the detailed step by step instructions are easy to understand, and the unexpected use of materials, texturing, and layering are presented in a way that makes it seem possible to actually create such lovely work myself. The magnets are handy for holding you pins and needles. The needle should glide through the fabric easily and should not be a tug of war...Chenille needles have a larger eye making threading easier plus they have sharp points.” Make sure you have sharp scissors. This is a very beautiful book on some embroidery projects that aren't exactly traditional embroidery.

Why We Like This:
  • Pins are handy for working with layered fabrics
  • Fabric is layered over your base
  • Primarily for framing and hanging as art

Kristen Gaga is a self-taught fiber artist specializing in hand embroidery. This book is meant to spark a fire in your heart, igniting a love for an age-old medium but in a new and refreshing way. The variety of flowers is vast, and whether you embroider or not and whether you are a novice or an experienced stitcher, this is a great book to have.

The illustrations are incredibly detailed, easy step-by-step instructions, simple color guides, and simply beautiful florals all around. It includes a good basic compilation of stitches with photos and descriptions. It just shows you how to draw the flowers and where to use each basic stitch with colors (mostly satin stitch) but it doesn't show you different ways to stitch them if that makes sense. The flowers are pretty and the explanations are good.

Why We Like This:
  • Easy to read, lots of variety
  • New and hot release
