The artwork is good, and the art team definitely knew what they were doing and why they made certain decisions but, there is a brutal minimum worth of concept up to follow through in this book.

The Art of Dragon Age is excellent quality, vivid imagery and print. It is great in terms of lighting and mood. The matte painting of scenes is superb how much implied detail is created in such quick brush strokes, and is really inspiring. This is a must get for all Dragon Age.

It is a step back from gaider's first two novels, which focus exclusively on characters that players would never (or could not yet) control in the games. It gives a more in depth look into the every day life of mages in the circles, introduces new and intriguing characters, and even brings back a few familiar faces.

This novel specifically is the much better novel adding onto the Mage/Templar conflict to create a realization that Templars are dicks. There are essential character details along the way of both series favorites who make appearances and thorough development of several new characters who surpass those of many of the Dragon Age II cast. The characters are intriguing, the story flows well, and the events of the book contribute well to the over-all lore of the franchise.

It's a solid Master piece and even if you dont play the games, you enjoy the book. It's not necessary to enjoy the novel, but it does add to the layer to the whole experience.
