The hxw drum brain module might be a relatively new release, but it's still nothing short of impressive this year. There's 15 different drum kits to play, none of which sound amazing, but you can work around that by using the USB and a program like garageband. They sound like a real crummy set of drums. Unlike other drum sets that use individual 1/4" audio cables between each pad and the control head, this one uses a single connector from the control head to each pad. It features metronome, coach, loop and mute, and comes with sliders to have independent volume control for each pad.

The frame, once assembled, feels pretty solid, and the snare has lots of adjustability to get it just right. It feels well belt, but the plastics on the fasteners and the cymbals get marked up very easily by the drum sticks. The kit is an ideal height for children. It can be used on slightly cheaper kits.

Compared to a Roland, it definitely has more of a realistic feel. It does not include the hihat stand or kick pedal. The kit is fairly audible because of the type of mesh heads being used.
