We know from years of feedback from readers, customers and amazon sellers, what most people want in a convenient and appropriate element. The robert gillespie essential element for string book one is exactly that - it's a simple element that hits all the right notes. It's the second in a series of teach-yourself books for string instruments that is well laid out and rather easy to understand. It offers beginning students sound pedagogy and engaging music, all carefully paced to successfully start young players on their musical journey. It progresses in technique and literacy at a pace which allows the player to attain mastery quickly, with the added benefit of being able to play with others in ensemble.
The end of the book has a long Spotlight part with several long pieces to play, all very nice. The online interactive playing is a BIG plus and is very fun. There's no amount of text that will do a better job at conveying a message of sound better than the sound itself. The lessons don't move so fast that you feel lost and, in fact, the book does a great job with mini "review" sections that allow you to reinforce what you've already learned to keep it fresh in your memory.
Why We Like This:
Will teach forward/backward extensions and flat/minor keys

Next on the list, we've got yet another element that manages to win our hearts. It's the robert gillespie music book and it's widely considered as element that has the most suitable features. It covers all of the essentials and also teaches you about the basics of reading music. The book is thoughtfully organized to help you work your way into trickier and more difficult concepts without over-doing it like many other books do. It includes a violin finger chart that shows where to play the notes taught in. There are many orchestra arrangements (mostly duets), and even a duet with piano accompaniment. It's fun and helpful for beginners.
The students always have a pencil handy so they can make their own marks. There are loads of short songs to go through, which is great for learning to read notes and sightreading. It comes with a digital download or option to mail in for a CD.
