It is ideal for pleinair sketching / painting. These are lightweight but sturdy, cutout handle, have a giant thick rubber band at the base and adjustable folding clips at the top. Even the rubber band has held up nicely to a great deal of moving it around. The clamps at the top help secure the paper and the rubber band at the bottom keeps it on the board rather than flying around when you transport the board to another area.

This is a very nice tote board, it holds some rather large papers and is still light weight and easy to throw in well, a tote to take with you out to your art class or field work. It would work good on an easel too.
