The carib sea fine river sand is the best feature-rich sand on the market today. It looks beautiful and very natural in the tank and the live stem plants go in easily. It's finer than gravel and bigger granules than sand. It can be used in a shrimp tank. It is ideal for most freshwater aquaria, including discus, tetras, angelfish, water turtles, rays, plants, cichlids and more. It’s small enough to hold the plants in, but not so small that it gets kicked up as easily as regular sand. The size of the grains makes rooting easier. This is a really nice substrate.
