For a low asking price, stonehenge aqua fluid cold press watercolor paper block has managed to overwhelm their customers by packing as many features as they could. It’s definitely textured. It’s super strong, absorbent, and can withstand scrubbing. It's an excellent product for pros and especially for beginners and kids so they don't get discouraged by wood pulp papers that hopelessly wrinkle and tear, & don't reflect colors as brightly. Painter's tape peels up lots of paper and frisket also peels the paper off, and gum erasers lift texture off. It can hold quite a bit of water before it warps. It comes in blocks so you don’t have to tape them down to a surface to prevent warping as you paint. It is a good idea of how colors will look and react.
Why We Like This:
Fantastic watercolor paper for a fraction of the cost of arches
Affordable cotton rag that's great for students and illustrators
Colors are vibrant and lifts easily
Affordable but great quality, just the right amount of texture

We know from years of feedback from readers, customers and amazon sellers, what most people want in a convenient and appropriate block. The baohong fluid cold press watercolor paper block is exactly that - it's a simple block that hits all the right notes. Artists' grade paper can hold more water than academy grade, whereas it absorbs faster than the academy grade paper. It comes with 20 sheets of 140lb/300gsm watercolor paper and is glued on four edges to eliminate the need for stretching and avoids cockling. The added tool to separate the paper is a nice touch.
This specific watercolor paper has a cold press finish and light texture. Comparing this to Windsor and Newton paper, it is rougher and needs much more water to get the paint on it. It is easy to correct mistakes and colors are very saturated. It works well on mixed media so it should work on hot press. It is easier on the pocket book too.
Why We Like This:
Wet painting without buckling and is scrubbable when correction is needed

This paper has wonderful texture that holds pigment beautifully. It comes in a block and it has 15 sheets instead of the normal. It also can't handle layers of paint and water so if you are planning a painting that requires you to wet the paper more than once in any areas, use a different paper. It doesnt have a lot of texture to it like arches or baohong paper does but it's still very absorbent and works just as well.
This block is glued along two long edges to hold each sheet flat while painting. It is easy to find opening to separate from the block. When you remove your finished piece from the block it comes off so easily without leaving an edge on the block or your paper.
Why We Like This:
Stays workable ( wet ) longer
Better blending, and bleeding, and lifting pigment
Watercolors blend and bleed nicely when using wet on wet technique
