This book is one of a series of Hal Leonard’s music books for various instruments. It contains the music for 123 songs by artists ranging from the Beatles and the Monkees, through the Supremes, the Mamas and Papas and Simon and Garfunkel. It is written in a very stiff, sterile way to the point where the sound coming out feels less fun and musical and more clinical like a practice exercise.
This book provides material that is both entertaining and educational—it is an important contribution to the literature for beginning and intermediate trumpet players. The songs are arranged alphabetically and printed on large format (12” x 9”) pages, usually one song per page, although a few songs are printed on adjacent pages, so it is never necessary to turn pages while playing a single song. This music book has great songs that are easy to play. It's good to learn new music outside of a lesson book. It has lyrics and chords, too. It can always use a capo if you need a different key.
