This CD set of Glenn Miller has a lot of songs. It features 98 tracks including miller' most popular songs and a 44 page booklet with an extensive biography, discography, session details and rare photos. The brass is clear and mellow, but also bold. The first couple of tracks on the 10 cd set have a bit more static than on the equivalent tracks of the golden years set, but other than that, the sound quality is essentially the same.

The Golden Years set does contain some thirty tracks that don't appear on the larger set. The vocals are warm and round with the singers' resonance. If you want a large sampling of Glenn Miller, this is a great buy. If you love Big Band, this set is a must have.

Glenn Miller makes beautiful and great set with classic and smartly choosen materials. This orchestra composed entirely of U.S Army personnel may be one of the finest ever assembled and a lasting tribute to Glenn Millers musical sense and leadership qualities. It can "push" the music on this well-rounded, four-disc set was recorded during this stateside tenure and comes primarily from two sources. There are new performances of several of Miller's civilian band hits, experimental pieces such as Mel Powell's concerto "Pearls on Velvet", and lush pop songs featuring the full.

This is an indepsensible recording, a must-have for every student of the swing era. There are, barn-burning hot swing numbers, and a string section that creates some of the sweetest (but never cloying or smarmy) music ever made. The sound is super and the medleys are put back together as Glenn intended. It is great to hear the introductions that go with them. This is a must for any collection.
