The stanley hand plane for edge joint is suitable and reliable and fits well with your daily purpose. It is NOT a hand-crafted, artisan-quality plane, like a Lie-Nielsen, but, then again, it doesn't cost a couple of hundred dollars, either. The block plane makes a great addition to any contractorscarpenters kit bag, or even for the fine woodworker too as long as you are prepared to spend that. It is easy to assemble or disassemble for sharpening or tuning. The plane sole and sides are acceptably flat and square out of the box, and would be perfectly functional with no " tuning " or adjustment.
The construction is generally sound and it is a comfortable tool to use. It is great with sandpaper or stones. The instructions are very clear and written with consideration for all levels of skill. You can spend 15 minutes and get this plane shaving wood good enough to go into your toolbox and use for general purpose stuff.
Why We Like This:
Tighter process controls, thicker a2 blade, some design improvements
Easily adjusted, fits in your hand well

The faithfull hand plane for edge joint is capable of outshining several other plane featured in this list in overall features for the price point. This plane has a flat sole and heal but the sides are flat and smooth from front to back. It is great value in a no 7 jointer plane. It is made with a quality grey cast iron body for strength and stability with precision ground base and sides for flatness and squareness. The cardboard is thin, and tends to deform while the package is being shipped.
The frog adjustment screw can’t be adjusted until the rear handle and the depth adjustment wheel (which is a nice brass one) has been removed. There’s still a minimal hollow spot on the toe and heal but the sides are flat and smooth from front to back. The iron out of the box requires some sharpening.

The taytools hand plane for edge joint is specially designed for your daily usage and has all useful features. They certainly aren't the fanciest hand planes around but this tool is meant to do real work in preparing a flat surface. It is ideal for the cabinet maker and discerning woodworker. It is made from nearly indestructible ductile cast iron. The 6 fore plane is the perfect tool to joint, flatten and smooth larger areas and will achieve an accurate and smooth finish. It is well made and does the job.
The sole arrives flat, the sides are square, and the blade is sharp enough to use. It is great for squaring edges for joining. It is a way to sort of get both without spending the money. It is a very solid tool and quite heavy.

If you often find yourself scrambling for convenient and suitable plane, yellowhammer hand plane for edge joint is your end point. This large bench plane will make short work out of any project where shaving the precise amount of wood are called for. It is a beautiful plane that is very solidly built. It comes sealed in a plastic bag inside the box and the shoe, blade and chip breaker have all been covered with a heavy, sticky oil, presumably for corrosion protection. The sole is smooth, mouth is square, and the frog set up is quick. The frog can be adjusted forward and backward to change the size of the sole to blade opening for chip size control.
This plane has a good weight to it and is an attractive tool as well. It is 22" and 2.75" wide, and overall weight is 8.6 pounds. The blade is sharp out of the box but needs honing before use.
