Best overall: dbx home Audio Graphic Equalizer

Not everyone likes to purchase equalizer for their regular usage, but the dbx home audio graphic equalizer would be an anomoly. This eq is a stereo 2/3 octave eq with up to +12db gain and 15 bands per channel. It doesn't get rid of that noise 100 % but reduce the annoying squeak without compensating the quality of overall sound. It is great in a medium large pa system. It is designed to fit in a 19" rack so of course it's a little less. The rack-mounting ears are built into the front panel. It also gives you the options of boosting your sound +6db or +12db.

The pass-band transitions are completely clean and phase-pure everywhere that's been tested. It is managed nicely with left / right tuning, again using Stereophile #.

Why We Like This:
  • Very low noise and has a bright color with solid lows
  • An affordable quality upgrade to any sound system
  • Lot of satisfied buyers

Best With Feedback detector: Behringer Graphic Equalizer

Behringer Graphic Equalizer

The behringer graphic equalizer's material feels more premium than its price would suggest. The Behringer FBQ1502 fits a standard 1U rack opening. It provides great sound, equalize your music anyway you want. It is guaranteed with the high-quality illuminated faders, detent potentiometers and illuminated switches. It has the best density as far as channels of compression per rack unit and they're really responsive. An additional low cut filter removes unwanted frequencies such as floor rumble, while a highly accurate 4-digit led output metering and input gain control let you easily adjust levels.

It is great for killing subsonics with minimal effect on audible sub bass. It is easy to use, nice light displays, subwoofer out, separate on/off bypass for equalizer effects. The Behringer is a very clean equalizer with very little distortion and extremely low noise levels.

Why We Like This:
  • Great for live applications when 15 bands are called for
  • Very precise control of the frequency bands
  • Very low noise for a behringer
  • Gives great results on treble, mid range and bass

Best For turntable: Rockville home Audio Graphic Equalizer

Rockville home Audio Graphic Equalizer

The rockville home audio graphic equalizer might be a relatively new release, but it's still nothing short of impressive this year. There's very little "drift" - meaning each control does what it's supposed to and no more. This unit connects to other audio sources such as a receiver, tuner or CD player. It works very well in boosting the high-frequency phonemes of dialog in movies (i.e., consonants) and thus improving intelligibility. It will let you boost the signal to the point your speakers beg for mercy.

The stereo inputs and outputs on this eq are 1/4 and XLR. It is good frequency control for the right situation. It will sound like a completely new system.

Why We Like This:
  • Very well designed for home or studio use
  • Verry adaptable sound and has an extra amp exit just for subs
  • Easy to use and works great
  • Audible noise or other quality degradation

Best With spectrum analyzer: Behringer home Audio Graphic Equalizer

Behringer line of equalizer come in a pretty wide variety of styles, so you can definitely find one that suits your individual preferences and needs. It is an excellent musical sounding eq for the money with plenty of useful features. It allows you more control for left and right eq-ing. You can connect it with two xlr cables from the main output on your mixer to the inputs of the equalizer. The heat is generated even when the EQ is wired to anything but the A/C power. The unit looks gaudy with all it's lights on, but it works fine.

You will love the amount of band there is on this eq and is very precise with the switch. There are 2 rows of sliders so that each channel can be adjusted separately. The interface is easy to use, and the Feedback Detection System is straight forward and very helpful.

Why We Like This:
  • Lots of variety in musical tone
  • Plug and play with no issues
  • To be used at big churches, concert halls, and auditoriums

Best For long cable runs: ART home Audio Graphic Equalizer

Not everyone likes to purchase equalizer for their daily purpose, but the art home audio graphic equalizer would be an anomoly. It has 2 rca phono inputs and outputs. Each input on the Lyngdorf has sensitivity individually adjustable in one-tenth dB increments, easily allowing exact subjective level matching between/among inputs. This controls the output signal level from the equalizer. It uses a two-wire connection, consisting of the ground wire and the signal wire. This will allow you to contour frequencies.

This has an adjustable line level output so it can go between a CD player and an amplifier. It comes with rack-mounting ears (19" wide) and no feet. The controls are very precise, and it takes a novice like myself a while to get to know what the controls do. It works great, especially if you need to balance different phono cartridges.

Why We Like This:
  • Excellent unit with a lot of flexibility
  • Cuts all frequencies from 0 hz to xx and yield frequencies above xx
  • Fits in a 19" standard rack so right about that width
