If you know how to do orienteering, you have decent sight lines, and it's a clear day, then you will be able to know your position easily. The rest of the map unfolds using large panels, then there's a strip about 1" wide running the length of one edge. It will be a weak spot subject to excessive wear and tearing, being so close to the edge of the map.
