The john coltrane vinyl has killer features for the price point. Soultrane is an excellent collection of jazzy tunes, performed and arranged by some of the best players of its time. It's amazing to see Coltrane keep up with the hurried tempo of this track. It comes very close to the original vinyl as well and shows what a high resolution digital downsampling can do for CD.
This one is a classic jazz recording that has been made in a large variety of pressing. The vinyl is nice and heavy, there are no scratches, and static is non-existent in the sealed package. It is a prestige copy that plays well & sounds fantastic. It is made in a large variety of pressing. It lasts 40 minutes and was engineered by the legendary Rudy Van Gelder early.
Why We Like This:
Totally satisfying time with the mid-career coltrane

If you want nothing but the best desirable vinyl, then this product is the one you should definitely consider, as it manages to bring a lot to the table. This is clearly worthy of an addition to your Coltrane library. It features new stereo and mono mixes remastered from the original tapes by Kevin Gray and expertly pressed in Germany. It comes with so many vinyl albums pressed with defects it’s refreshing to listen to the two versions of this album free of defects. The mono mix, in contrast, while not showing off the extreme left-right stereo presentation, sounds more coherent in that all the players seem to be coming from the same space. The mix is more cohesive and balanced with a nice punchiness to it as well as an impressive clarity and is probably the version that most people will spin more often.
The sound on both the mono and stereo is excellent. It is cut from the analog master tapes and is in great sound. This is a good album if you want to peek into some music that stretches the boundaries a bit for you, if you're only used to more traditionally done jazz standards.
Why We Like This:
Great music, excellent pressings and packaging that while not premium is still quite decent
An absolute must for anyone even remotely interested in modern jazz at its best
