The look and feel of this spouts are consistent with the high quality we're used to from the rest of Kohler's lineup. The gate valve slides over the water pipe as it exits the spout and is never completely sealed as it would make it difficult to slide the diverted up and down. It's beautiful and super EZ installation. The tip of the spout will be about 5.75 inches from the surface it is attached to. The diverter does NOT push all the water through the shower head,some of the water still comes out of the spout. It has a set screw.

The construction of this spout is much nicer than what you can get at the local hardware store. It does still 'drip' when the diverter for the shower is engaged. The water comes out as it should and the install is extremely easy.
