This watercolor paper is REALLY nice for drawing or ink techniques. It is thick and does not warp, holds the watercolor paints well, and dries beautifully. It is great for art lessons, and for creating a master piece. It's also inexpensive enough that it makes a good practice paper, or good for toddlers who like to paint 4-5 "minute" pieces at a time.
This paper is heavy and awesome for drawing or ink techniques. It's heavy enough to use for proofs and for drafts. The pages come out easily and the watercolors are so much brighter on this paper than on regular paper. It is best for beginners, it's cost efficient and a good way to practice various watercolor techniques.

The arteza large watercolor paper's superior materials makes sure that it ages well with use. There's a Chinese based brand that sells 100% cotton that's virtually identical to Archers for way less. This paper works for watercolor and gouache just fine. It's smooth enough to add pen and ink without bumpiness. It does warp slightly when a lot of water is used, but not too bad.
The smooth side is very smooth and pencils glide effortlessly across it, but it still holds water very well and some watercolor layers dry with a texture similar to smoothly blended markers. The paper lets the watercolor flow nicely when wet, or paint on a dry surface for a different effect. Love it, like the fact that it has a smooth side that works well for coloured pencils when using a solvent.
Why We Like This:
You can soak both sides and paint wet in wet to prevent warping
Would recommend for hobby painting, classes and professional work

Next on the list, we've got yet another paper that manages to win our hearts. It's the strathmore large watercolor paper and it's widely considered as one of the best convenient paper you can buy. It is popular with artists of all levels because of the fine and even washes that can be achieved. It is perfect for finished artwork with watercolor and gouache. It is glued on all four sides so that the paper won't warp when you paint on it. It does use a sizing that is created with animal byproduct left over only after food processing. There is no bleeding and it's a great size.
It's the perfect size to bring with you to the park on a lazy afternoon with a little watercolor set. It is the perfect size to bring with you to the park on a lazy afternoon with a little watercolor set.

The features department is where strathmore watercolor paper truly manages to shine. Sheet spiral or detachable higher-quality watercolor paper, this is the same paper, unbound, and large. It is used for working on 100% cotton and not wood pulp. It cuts well with a sharp blade. The paper is more textured than say an 8x 8x 8x.
If you feel ready to tackle something big, this is a good option. The size is perfect, nice and large. It is used for working on 100% cotton & not wood pulp. It is great for home, classroom or studio use.

Heavyweight paper, good quality with good watercolors
