Compared with other hose in this category, the dorman heater hose has a convenient design. Dorman gives repair professionals and vehicle owners greater freedom to fix cars and trucks. If you have a Tahoe 4x4, this is the correct heater hose that comes out from the water pump, and then has the fitting to go to the overflow bottle and the heater on the firewall. It has a 6.0L engine in it. It is easy to install once the old one is removed, that is the hardest part of the job.

The little pop-clips dorman leaves on for installation are a very nice touch, but you better have a pair of needle-nose vice-grips handy for this job. The new Aluminum design that dorman uses will outlast the OEM parts and is a great solution to a flawed design.
The new hoses come with retaining clips on the new clamps so you literally just pop them on and then release the retaining clip. The self lock ring in one of the hoses doesnt feel to snap hard enough, but it wprks. The second hose assembly is pretty perfect as-is. It's a great kit, except for the slip-on fitting, and it needs SERIOUS work. The hose looks a little less durable with less fibers, compared with the stock hose. This is a great option for replacing hoses.

There are two heater hose assembly possibilities. It is kind of longer than the oem part which tends to kink up the actual rubber heater hose part of the unit that connects to the block. It is burried in the firewall insulation. The long side of the hose has to be disconnected RIGHT NEXT TO THE FIREWALL. This part ELIMINATES the 2 connection points on the original hose. It connects to the pipe from the firewall, which is where it has to be removed from. It is longer than original so you need to remove the extension piece that connects near the firewall. It is better to just cut the hose an inch to reduce the kink in it from being too long and bending on itself.
