Best part: lee morgan cd costs comparatively low and it is available to ship in 24 hours. On this album, Lee Morgan's trumpet expresses both sheer confidence and the absolute joy of playing music. They are excellent, particularly the gorgeous "Totem Pole" which features beautiful improvisational interludes, novel changes, and a tight, melodic head. It includes some great solos from the rest of the musicians and the overall result is a terrific album.

All of the tunes here are Morgan's own, and they share a level of rhythmic interest and unusual melodic turns that raise them well above the ordinary. It is no dumbed down, watered-down piece of pandering. The remaining tracks on the recording are a little more in the hard bop vein and really showcase Morgan's underrated skills as a composer. If you want an instant soul-jazz party atmosphere, this is your CD. This album is fantastic, its a simply a must have for any Jazz music fan.

Why We Like This:
  • Crisp, clean, upbeat jazz in every song
  • A true treasure from a truly brilliant trumpeter
  • A classic blue note recording by a legendary trumpeter

Compared with other products by Lee Morgan, the lee morgan cd has a convenient design. It's the music of an artist whose life has just been saved and whose creative spirit has been restored and renewed, acquiring maturity and autonomy in place of the former "grandstanding" that came so easily to one of the music's most notable young prodigies. It's long, and has a more progressive song structure than the typical theme-solo-theme structure. It's an evocative tune with shifting passages that stimulates extremely creative work from all concerned.

The title track to this album is a great moody tune, with grant, herbie, wayne, and lee all taking really expressive solos. It is great as usual, and grant green adds to the ensemble sound. It allows all the soloists (Morgan, Shorter, guitarist Grant Green, and pianist Herbie Hancock) plenty of room, but it is far more than a blowing session over a simple set of changes. It is good as well, some real swinging hard-bop, there's no weak material on this set, but the title track is definitely stand out stuff.

Why We Like This:
  • Featuring grant's 2-note oscillating nautical motif
  • A truly splendid time for music and culture
  • Good investment for long term

For a low asking price, lee morgan cd has managed to overwhelm their customers by packing as many features as they could. Similar to a favorite roller coaster ride is this CD that when it's finished, you have to listyen again and again. It features the quintet of wayne shorter on tenor sax, harold mabern on piano, bob cranshaw on bass, billy higgins on drums, and of course, lee on trumpet. The third track (speedball) has an evasive melody and interesting chord progressions. It also has a short and tasteful solo by Harold Mabern Jr. the pianist. It is great to have Lee morgan's "gigolo" available once again via this rvg edition.

The melody is great, like all of Morgan's works.

Why We Like This:
  • Full of "all lee", - soaring, thoughtful, reflective
  • Good brand reputation

The lee morgan cd's material feels more premium than its price would suggest. This title by Lee Morgan makes an excellent gift to clients, bosses, colleagues, and even family. It features an elegiac opening statement reminiscent of the modern jazz quartet. It is a beautiful tune that starts out so melodically almost like a nursery rhyme and eventually builds up and becomes an incredible track. It is a very beautiful bossa-nova sounding tune.

The compositions (four by Morgan and two by Wayne Shorter) are excellent. It's an album that has it all, great songs (never hurts to have Shorter writing for your album) and a dream team of greats playing them. The fact that the procrastinator is a shade more atmospheric than other morgan recordings from this period can be attributed to several factors. This one just sounds that much more self-assured.

Why We Like This:
  • Excellent gift to colleagues, customers, etc
  • Just a nice variety of different grooves
  • Good investment for long term
