The lee precision great mold is suitable and reliable and fits well with your daily purpose. This mold is made of aluminum and will not hold molten aluminum. It works good, nice ingots to melt in an electric pot. The built in handle makes it easier than having to grab it with pliers/vice grips and also removes a lot of the risk of the tools slipping and either dropping the ingots or even hot molten lead somewhere where you don't want it. The handle is very small, 1/2 lb and 1lb is smaller than expected but usable.

The size of the mold part is 3.5 " x 5 " x 1 ", including the handle it is 9..

The lyman making lead mold might be a relatively new release, but it's still nothing short of impressive this year, thanks to multiple price cuts and added new features over the past few months. The mold itself is like the other in that to get good looking ingots you would have to pour and remelt half a dozen to get it up to temperature but once it is at temperature it drops a very nice looking even ingot. The instructions that come with this mould specify that it should only be used with molten lead. This will keep the mould's tang from wallering out the handle and causing it toeventually fall off.

The tang for the mold will snap right off. It is used to store miscellaneous lead including old and recovered bullets. The ingots come out looking great and almost good enough for the optical hardness testing.

Why We Like This:
  • Works great and ingots fall out easy without any kind of spray
  • Makes nice smooth ingots, very professional looking
  • Easy to handle and cools quickly
