The makita great tool is satisfactory and appropriate and fits well with your regular usage. This hand held planer does not have a reference surface. It allows one to do things which would be either very time consuming (hand plane) or ugly (sawzall) quickly and neatly. It maintains a straight line with little to no effort. It makes quick work of straightening, narrowing, chamfering and smoothing wood.
This tool is really loud when in the cut, so ear protection (and goggles) are a must. It's great for cleaning up edges and squaring edges for gluing. The chip dispenser is convenient since you can divert the material to your left or to your right without discarding it upon yourself. It's also useful for initial flattening of the common small ups and downs in large glue-ups, e.g.
Why We Like This:
A great tool and very accurate and reliable
You can remove 1/8" of wood per cut easily
