Hi Michael, This gasket material is excellent for oil, gas and water. It's more of a composite paper. The feel of this is definitely paper. The material is about 1/64" thick & comes in a roll. The material is thin & tough so it doesn't cut as easily by trying to break it over sharp edges as thicker & cork style gasket material. The material is easy to cut with a razor or with scissors. It's a good quality paper gasket.
