This is a super heavy duty tool that places like home depot and menards rent out to do it yourselfers who abuse the heck out of them. It doesn't take much of a whack to make this gun drive the nail, so be careful to avoid "double tapping" that is when you strike the nailer with the mallet (again, provided with the nailer) snap it back up. The loader moves with the last nail in the strip so you can see when you are running out of nails.
The nailer works very well in standard white and red oak solid wood flooring, and brazilian chestnut ( sucupira) has a janka hardness rating greater than oak. This tool has a 3/8 inch air fitting and does use quite a bit of air. The 3 /4-inch interchangeable base plates sit flush against floor boards for stability, so you can drive cleats at the proper angle and depth every time you strike the nailer with the mallet (again, provided with the nailer) snap it back up.
Why We Like This:
Easy to set up and connected to compressor
Easy to load, easy to operate, never jammed
Minimal assembly required and straightforward directions to use

It can be used on 1/4" engineered hardwood boards going into the sub floor. Without the plastic nose, there are two metal forks that act as both safety and depth measurement, and they will compress into the wood when firing the gun.
It is designed for 1/4''-5/8'' engineered or solid hardwood flooring. It has a tendency to wobble or rock. It comes with clear plastic safety glasses though. The variable depth adjuster is a nice feature. The knobs are plastic, and the base of the foot is quite small.
