This is a true beginner’s kit that comes with everything you’ll ever need including a bow, rosin, bridge, soft carrying-case and extra strings. The 4/4 cello is 48 inches long and requires a bow length of 28 inches. The size makes a difference in both the distance the musician must reach to the fingerboard of the instrument and the distance the notes are separated on the fingerboard. The case is soft, but the stand makes up for it.

The c string peg ( for the thickest string) should be near the left ear, with the neck a few inches away from the shoulder, and the left hand is able to reach both ends of the fingerboard with ease. The stiffness of the laminate top yields a pretty fast bow response albeit without complex harmonics. It has a really good carbon fiber bow decently made a well balance for around $.

It's outfitted with hard and soft cases (making it convenient to carry to school or orchestra), a brazilwood bow with unbleached horsehair, cello stand, rosin cake, and an extra set of cello strings. It has a pretty good sound and it's a beautiful instrument and it has a gorgeous color, but the bridge's hole for the string is too deep, the Tuners are so hard and the strings in general are not even for intermedia musicians.

You can clearly see spray and tape patterns on the neck joints and there is a thickness to the top coat that you get with a poly finish. The nut is pretty high and will need to be filed down a bit to get the string height at the head of the neck correct.

Though, the cello stand is NICE, as is the hard carrying case and the bones of the instrument. You can tell somewhat by the smell, an oil varnish will have some scent of pine resin even after fully cured and a spirit varnish doesn't layer as thick as what you'll find on this instrument.
