This thing is not as crazy solid as a solid steel c-stand but it's a big step up from your average chintzy lightweight light stands that come with most background stands and light sets. A 3 way mounting interface allows you to mount in vertical and horizontal orientations. It can drop quite suddenly plus can be adjusted to a height as tall as 9.2 ft.

The top reversible screw for the 1/4”-20 & 3/8”-16 threaded ends are thick and hold well into any one of the 3 positions at the top.
