The 3DS XL screen has 800x240 resolution (actually 400x240 for each eye) and The DS Lite has 256x192 resolution. The Sound is great overall, the speakers don't get SUPER loud, but it's significantly improved over the standard version.

The Start/Select/Home bar under the bottom screen is no longer just a pad, each button is a molded plastic button, firmly in its place. It also is real quick and easy to set up. The large screen is great and the 3d slider bar is helpful. It looks great, great gift for kids or collectors.
