Best Overall: luxury s intense Blue

The features department is where luxury s intense blue truly manages to shine. This ink is a brilliant and gorgeous cobalt blue, reminiscent of the medicine bottles of yesteryear. It is a good mellow but stand out blue. The contrast is amazing regardless of whether your paper is ivory or white. It is a good water proof ink, this ink really flows fast from the nib. It can be used in a pen for extended periods and will melt the plastic parts.

The quality is superb, it dries relatively fast. It dries very nicely too so it will be good for note taking. It is a strong color with great performance and well worth it.

Why We Like This:
  • Ph neutral and works very well in fountain pens
  • Very bright and will stain if you're not careful
  • Writes with great shading in a cheapo nemosine and nib creaper
  • Good quality ink for good quality pens

Best For lefty: Noodler'S Ink Noodler Blue

Compared with other blue in this category, the noodler's ink noodler blue has a convenient design. The Noodler's blue-black has a straightforward blue undertone, without the greenish. It looks more blue in some lights, and black in others. It makes you look twice and can also appear dark gray. The paper has an effect on how the ink renders. It's not water resistant, but if you need that, Noodler's does make water resistant formulas in a wide range of colors.

The ink does run when it gets wet, but enough stays behind to still be able to see what was written. It dries pretty quickly, as well. It's perfect for someone who likes green ink, but finds most “green only” ink a bit too light.

Why We Like This:
  • Flows well and smooth to write with
  • Truly a unique and well behaved ink
  • Great color decent water resistance and performance

Best For watercolor: luxury s Noodler Blue

Not everyone likes to purchase blue for their regular usage, but the luxury s noodler blue would be an anomoly. If you are looking for an ink that has all the best practical features rolled into one, then this is your ink. It is good for writing with a fountain pen. It's a subtle yet dramatic slate blue that jumps off the page because it almost looks like acrylic paint, whereas almost all other fountain pen inks look like watercolor. It is smooth, clear, and consistent.

This ink has a slight oily smell before it's dry such as when writing quickly (very slight and you may not notice it if you don't look for it) which likely is the lubricant. This size of bottle should last a good long time. It is easy to see on a mostly black and white print-out. This is an excellent security benefit when writing checks or signing legal documents.

Why We Like This:
  • Ink dries quickly and looks great on the page
  • Color is vibrant and water resistant
  • Smells awful, looks nice, dries fast

Best Deep Blue: Noodler'S Noodler Blue

We know from years of feedback from readers, customers and amazon sellers, what most people want in a convenient and appropriate blue. The noodler's noodler blue is exactly that - it's a simple blue that hits all the right notes. It is made in America, top of the line ink, beautiful colors, the best in colors, and the best in quality. It sets quickly, resists freezing well, and will cling to the page long after it's been reduced to the consistency of wet pasta. It is a noodler term for waterproof, bleach proof, lightfast, and archival qualities.

This ink is a good choice for writing checks and similar "secure" documents, which is a major reason for buying it, and supposedly won't freeze easily in the bottle. It won't damage the plastic and it forms a physical barrier to keep any ink from working its way out the threads. The ink will last a very long time.

Why We Like This:
  • Bulletproof yet won't stain or clog your pen
  • Terrific if you happen to need an ink which will not freeze
  • Delivers what they promise

Best For every day Use: Noodler'S Ink Great Ink

Not everyone likes to purchase blue for their daily purpose, but the noodler's ink great ink would be an anomoly. Noodler's ink was able to obtain some viable vintage inks with extremely patriotic labels. It is an excellent, beautiful turquoise ink that resembles the color of clear, high sky of early afternoon. It is water-resistant (as all vmail series inks) which is hard to come by among good turquoise fountain pen inks. It comes with those inks as models and a little bit of reverse engineering and close modern replication the originals come alive again in their own v-mail ink series.

This is a very super saturated ink which is good for that shock of color on the page. It is fun to journal with.

Why We Like This:
  • Good viscosity that performs well with multiple pens
  • Great blue, great history, easy flowing, attention grabber
  • Color is consistent with online representation
  • Great color, flows well even in the super fine point pen
