The sides do fold in so it can be stored flat. The rack will hold five 2" tall jars or five 4" jars at a time, just for your information on planning how many jars to make.

It fits into the norpro porcelain enamel canning pot perfect as expected. It easily fits 7 quart sized jars. Long handles at the side help protect your hands when placing or removing jars from hot water. If you aren't careful where the handles are, the handle can block the pressure valve and never allow the canner to build pressure.

This rack does keep 7 quart or pint jars in place, but it is way too flimsy to lift the filled jars in or out of the canner. It's possible to lift the jars out w/o burning fingers. The canning rack is perfect.
