Genie offers a variety of motor for personal choice and yet maintaining quality in all the variants. It is great for garages with vaulted ceilings, storage on ceiling, or attic access points. It only allows the door to descend by gravity, so if your door is not under the gravity force for going down, it will sit there while the motor runs and unravels the cable on the spool. It just plugs into a regular outlet and the battery plugs right into the motor. It does have terminals to wire dry contact devices.
The kit comes with pre programmed LED wireless light and a pre programmed wireless control panel. It is quieter and the phone app notifications and rules you can set are very nice. This will handle a very large door compared to the normal residential application.
Why We Like This:
Totally quiet and far easier to install than a traditional ceiling mounted opener

The genie wall mount garage door opener's superior materials makes sure that it ages well with use. Installation and programming (with a modicum of mechanical ability) is straightforward and much easier than traditional chain or belt drive types to install. It can handle doors up to 14 ft tall, so your 9 ft tall door should not be a problem. This will work with sectional garage doors that have cable drums, usually 3 to 4 inches in diameter, but what you're describing sounds as if you have a roll up door in which case the answer is no, this will not work. It does have terminals to wire dry contact devices.
It also comes with one remote. There is a locking relay supplied with the opener which sets a locking pin when the door opener is registered closed. It's easy to set up and works fine.

Liftmaster has been making great motor for years, thanks to a combination of clever design and appropriate materials. They have a solid steel rail and other better quality parts than a Chamberlain retail model. It works great with new sensors. The wiring for the safety "eyes" hook up the same way and the instructions on how to "train" the door opener is pretty straight forward.
The garage door is pulled open and closed by a chain driven by a sprocket. The straps holding the motor to the ceiling have to be adjusted a bit. The light will glow steadily for 30 sec. It is not as large as the original nor does it have lights on two sides as previous. There is only one remote and one wall button in the package.
