The overall density of the foam feels about the same, but these are a single thickness throughout with less finishing on the edges than the higher-end shorts.

Compared with other products by Pearl Izumi, the pearlizumi pro short has a convenient design. The quality, fit and finish, and wearability of this product is second to none. The flat lock stitched seams on the leg to torso portion are fine for sprint or Oly, but they will irritate beyond that distance. They work well while you are racing, but they can cause a bit of damage if you don't lube well.

The material is just slightly abrasive though, won't matter in sprint or Oly,but in a half or greater, you better lube the privies up. The sides of the crotch in front are wearing faster than the rest of the shorts. The pad, although thin and light, does a nice job from sprint to 140.6 distance. It offers decent protection on long rides.
