For a low asking price, schneider electric circuit breaker has managed to overwhelm their customers by packing as many features as they could. The Square D by Schneider Electric QO 15 and 20 Amp Single-Pole Dual Function (CAFCI and GFCI) Circuit Breakers are fantastic. It can check wiring amperage loss under various loads, voltage drops under load, gfci trip times and currents, peak voltages, line frequencies (hz), impedance. It can also give you peace of mind by measuring voltage drops on a circuit within code (typically 5%), and not overloaded.

There are mixed opinions on non-grounded GFCI circuits, and level of protection it offers, but it does work. It would automatically provide protections from any ground fault and arc fault in the circuit. It passes the inspection with flying colours. It is easy to install.

Why We Like This:
  • Combining both the cafci and gfci in one breaker is brilliant
  • Square d dual function breaker required for kitchen
  • Dual function combines arc fault and ground fault
  • Eliminates the need for a gfi downstream

The new codes require all breakers to be GFCI or dual function to protect homes and their families. These breakers are an inch or so wider than thermal breakers, so you won’t be able to see the outer snaps that align with the service panel connection bar. The 220 v gfci breakers will trip instantly if the dryer has a 3-prong receptacle, where the ground and neutral go to the 3rd prong. It will take a bit of force to snap it into place.

These breakers work fine if installed for a circuit that can be GFCI protected, such as an electric water heater wired with 10/2 + ground. It can be used on load side unless 120vac is needed on load side. The breaker handle should be delivered in the “trip” (middle) position, which indicates that’s been factory tested. It can be used as a gfci for a hot water heater.

  • Good brand reputation

The overall length of a QO-GFI breaker is longer than the standard QO breaker, however the escutcheon or the face of the breaker that protrudes from the cover of the loadcenter are the same size.
