It is 11 inches long and made of metal with a plastic mouthpiece. Although there is no diaphragm screw-on cap to replace a broken membrane, the membrane appears to be a sturdy less-flexible/stretch plastic. It can also be a toy for adults.

The metal construction is nice though, and the mouthpiece is a nice touch. It's important to note that the trombone slide is just for looks, but it does not affect the notes that are played. The size is perfect for a adult costume to go with it and it doesn't stand out to much until you use it lol. It is really entertaining in the car.
