The paul humann many fish is long-lasting, rigid and fits well with your regular usage like a dream. This book was developed for the active scuba diver and snorkeler. It is great for all ages, but info is pretty abbreviated so probably for young teens and up as far as the reading goes. There are wonderfully clear, glossy pictures of each individual fish combined with a detailed description which includes information such as size, colors, appearance of immature, habitat, and reaction to divers.
Each species is represented by one or several beautiful color photographs as well as a simplified line drawing with the important identification features indicated. The photography is exceptional and information on each speciies is clear and easy to read. These are extremely helpful with all the color photos for learning to identify fish, especially at varying developmental stages.
The colour plates are excellent and in many cases there are specific notes as to colour variations in various species which is extremely helpful. It's just much more fun and interesting if you can identify the fish you see.
Why We Like This:
Must have for any diver/snorkeler eager to
A must-have for reef explorers, whether from the top or up close and personal

The zechariah james blanchard reef fish is suitable and reliable and fits well with your daily usage. This is a self-published book which is good for beginners thinking about setting up a salt water tank. It provides necessary information to gain a high level understanding of what it takes to set up, maintain, and enjoy a saltwater aquarium. It is short and vague, and even repeats itself a few times effectively shortening it further. It is great for the beginner saltwater hobby.
This book is also very helpful to even veteran saltwater aquarium enthusiasts, such as myself, because it gives tips that one might not think about. It is a great tool to use to make sure you're doing everything properly. This is a must read for anyone, new or old, within the saltwater fish tank hobby.
Why We Like This:
Covers from setup to maintaining a saltwater fowler, reef or fish only
Great introduction to the saltwater aquarium
A great and easy read for the saltwater hobbyist
Maximize the efficiency, productivity, and adaptability of your business

The john p hoover reef fish's superior materials makes sure that it ages well with use. It covers many popular species and is a nice size to bring along. It is great for scuba or kids. The majority of photos are clear, they colorfully depict the various species of fish and the inclusion of typical lengths of the different species, along with a comment or two on appearance, helps to identify the fish.
It is a great size and shape for its use. The waterproof pages are nice, so your book doesn't get ruined when you can't wait to dry off before looking up that fish you saw snorkeling or diving.

It's the most comprehensive compilation of tropical fishes. It is a definitive reference book for the greater indo-pacific ocean, beautifully photographed and with excellent descriptions of more fish than you may ever see, in all phases and general features for identifying certain groups of fish. This guide is very in depth and shows you how to identify fish at different life stages and general features for identifying certain groups of fish.
These are very detailed and provide help on fish identification. They include good pictures of needlefish (which some ID guides do not), and have many great colorful/clear photos for identification. It is good for a live-aboard trip though.

A well-detailed and well-illustrated tropical pacific reef fish guide
Great for snorkeling and diving trips

The species accounts of Ray-finned fishes are grouped by family, but there is no discussion of the characteristics of the families, nor any explanation of the bizarre ordering of the families. It includes insets showing the dramatically different juvenile forms of some angelfish, but omits those for other angelfish. It provides the reader with in-depth text on tropical marine ecosystems accompanied by brilliant photography.
It features more than 1, 000 color photographs of 800 species. It includes the most likely encountered fishes and features name, species, habitat, range and a description particular to the animal covered. The organization and index are somewhat chaotic and not conducive to finding a specific species. It can be used as a guide to tropical marine ecosystems.
This is a very good read if you want a fairly sophisticated overview of reef ecology as well as an extraordinarily broad survey of the variety of tropical marine creatures (fish, reptiles, mammals, and invertebrates), plus reef locations around the world.
Why We Like This:
