The sega greatest compilation game's high-end materials makes sure that it ages well with use. The Sega Genesis Collection for the Playstation 2 is a collection of twenty-eight games from Sega's most popular console. This is the 1st Sega Genesis compilation to be released on the PS2 and other than a couple of certifiable duds that are included on here, if you are an old school gamer like myself or just love great games in general, this is a must buy. This comes in very handy when you're trying for a Chaos Emerald in Sonic, or getting ready for a tough boss fight or in Kid Chameleon which is a great game made infamous by the fact it doesn't have a password/save feature on it.
Each transformation has its own powerful and unique abilities, with the only one that doesn't make the boss truly easier being the tiger. There are unlockable video clips and some unravel just by selecting a game off the menu list while others demand skill. This is most helpful in the Phantasy Star games in which you can save right before a tough boss fight or in Kid Chameleon which is a great game made infamous by the fact it doesn't have a password/save feature on it.
For each main game, you can press the triangle button to access some background info on that paticular game.
Why We Like This:
A very entertaining shooter/action platformer that does follow a story and plays very well
An odd sonic-esque platformer, with a living star with stretchy arms
Built on the space harrier engine, although not nearly as smooth

If you want nothing but a product that is reliable, this sega great collection is certainly a right investment. This Sega collection has been remastered with enhanced graphics and sound(s) to relive these games in a newer way. It features enhanced versions of fantasy zone, golden axe, monaco gp, tant r/bonanza, alien syndrome, columns, outrun, v.r. It still has the overhead shooting game play as the original. In addition to some laughable animations and chincy art, this version has a lot more enemies and is much longer than the original.
It's just as much fun as the original to play, the graphics and controls appear to be 100% identical with the original and the additional modes are an improvement. It certainly doesn't replace the classic original, but a great version to have if you're an OutRun fan. This compilation is the best $20 you'll ever spend on a game with excellent replay value.
