The nvidia official controller should be able to handle its purpose and duties with ease. This is the must have controller when gaming on the Shield TV. It is durable and perfect for gaming on the Shield. It has a touch slider on the front for ir volume control which works perfectly. The face button travel is a lot more responsive, and the DPad is worlds better.

This controller has a cold metallic feel, and the build quality is night and day compared to the creaky old controller. The controller inputs feel a little light on the " abxy " buttons. It is easy to reach though, comfortably. The jagged look takes some getting used to, but it's distinct and doesn't impact grip quality.
