Best Overall: demon Ski Skin Wax

demon Ski Skin Wax
Buy on Amazon

The demon ski skin wax's material feels more premium than its price would suggest. This is basic snowboard wax. It is good for mid temp, average/heavy, snow. It is so bulky it also encourages thick application for summer storage. It's almost easier to keep it that way for grip. The wax smells like a dew-kissed mountain pasture at dawn. It even comes with a sticker. It is easy to scrape and “soak” in well for a base coating the next season. The wax is awesome for an everyday non race wax.

Why We Like This:
  • Works great and smells like cotton candy
  • Melts nicely, easy to scrape, skis well
  • Easy to apply, scrape, and brush
  • Great value, great wax, smells good too

Best For wet Snow: Zümwax Quick Wax

Zümwax Quick Wax
Buy on Amazon

Not everyone likes to purchase wax for their regular usage, but the zümwax quick wax would be an anomoly. It is not like a real iron wax but helps a little when in a hurry. It is easy to apply, and runs very smooth and fast on the slopes. It is easy to put on the skis, just push the stick up and rub it on. The hot wax melts and permeates the micro pores of the base so well. The cork topper helps to rub in the rest of the wax.

This is a good general purpose wax and will work well for any type of pleasure skiing.

Why We Like This:
  • Great for in between hot waxes
  • Great product, easy to apply and polish down and actually smells good
  • Great for a quick wax refresh
  • Useful for a quick tuneup on a multi-day trip

Best For many Wax jobs: Swix Ski Skin Wax

Swix Ski Skin Wax
Buy on Amazon

Any wax job will protect your skis and give you a more consistent glide than no wax at all. This wax is great and lasts several ski days for typical temps seen on the slopes of CA. It glides well and is an excellent value, given how big a bar of wax it is. It still requires some extra polishing work, but performs wonderfully on the slopes.

This wax should provide a good glide if not "the best" results at the extremes of its stated temperature range. There is a lot of wax and will last several seasons, even if you hot wax your skis once a week. This wax is a little easier to apply when compared to the cold temp version.

Why We Like This:
  • Mix with a little blue for colder days or yellow for warmer days
  • Lot of satisfied buyers

Best For Cold weather: Zümwax Ski Skin Wax

Zümwax Ski Skin Wax
Buy on Amazon

Zümwax offers a variety of wax for personal choice and yet maintaining quality in all the variants. The key is to heat up your bases as best you can. It's ski wax and it works as intended. It's made for ice fishing. It's a solid block of wax on a push up stick and gets it melted into the base. The cork really heats up the wax and gets it melted into the base. It is quite noticeable and allows you to go longer between hard wasxing. It is good in various snow temperatures. It's easier to get a consistent, smooth finish with this than other, cheaper applicators, but the tube is a bit big to hold rubbing the wax in is a bit awkward and the emptier the tube is the flimsier it gets.

Why We Like This:
  • Easy and fast solution for waxing the cross country ski
  • Very nice and no need for the inconvenience of a hot iron
  • Super easy to apply and super slippery
  • Works great and east to use
